Not every appointment is somebody getting in a van

A survey call, a design consultation, a follow-up to go through a quote — plenty of work has no address at all. Software built entirely around site visits makes those awkward: it asks for an address, counts travel time, and offers the booking only to people who go out. This treats them as what they are.

What it does

How is a phone or video appointment different?

Nobody travels for it, so it has no address, is on nobody's route, needs no postcode, and is skipped by the service radius, the travel padding between slots and the travel report. Those are not cosmetic: a remote booking counted as a journey quietly eats the gap around every site visit near it.

Who can be given one?

Anybody on the staff, including office people. A site visit needs somebody who goes out; a call or a video meeting does not, so the picker offers a wider set — and that is enforced on the server too, not just in the dropdown.

Can an office person actually run the appointment?

Yes, and this was a real gap worth closing. Your own work is always yours: somebody given a telephone appointment can open it, start it and finish it whether or not they have access to the whole team's board. Without that they could see the job and have no way to do anything with it, which reads as a broken button.

How do I turn them on?

They are tick boxes rather than a choice. The main setting asks the physical question — do you go to the customer, or do they come to you — and phone and online are things you also do. A salon that takes phone consultations is still a salon, and one list of four options would make it choose.

Can customers book one themselves?

Yes, where you offer it. The slots come from the same engine as everything else, so the hours and availability are consistent — but with no travel to allow for, the gaps around them are naturally tighter.

What it does not do

Worth knowing before you spend an afternoon on it rather than after.

There is no video calling built in. It books the appointment and tells everybody when it is; the call happens on whatever you already use.

No meeting link is generated or sent automatically. If you want a Teams or Zoom link on it, you add it.

Office staff are still not counted in the team utilisation and profit-per-person figures, which measure field work. Widening that would move every existing business's numbers overnight.

Questions, answered

Can office staff be given appointments?

Yes. A call or a video meeting can go to anybody on the staff, not just people who go out to site, and they can start and finish it themselves.

Does a phone appointment affect travel time between jobs?

No. Nobody travels for it, so it is on no route, needs no address, and is skipped by the service radius and the travel padding around other bookings.

Is there video calling in the app?

No. It books the appointment and tells everybody when it is; the call itself happens on whatever you already use.

What does it cost?
