Work you have finished and never sent a bill for

This is the quietest way a small business loses money. Not a customer refusing to pay — a job that was done, signed off, and never invoiced at all, usually because it finished on a Friday. Nobody chases it because nobody knows it exists, and it does not show up as a debt because no debt was ever created.

What it does

How does it find them?

By looking for jobs marked finished with no invoice against them. That is a question nobody thinks to ask, because an uninvoiced job is invisible everywhere else: it is not overdue, it is not outstanding, and it is not in any total.

Does it tell me what they are worth?

Yes, where the job carries a price or came from a quote. A job with no price on it is reported as needing one rather than counted as nothing, because a zero in a total is a decision and an unknown is a question.

Can I bill them from the list?

Yes. The invoice is raised from the job with its lines already on it, the same way it would have been at the time, so a job billed three weeks late is not billed differently from one billed on the day.

What about customers on a monthly account?

They are not on this list, because their finished work is waiting for the statement rather than being missed. A job with no price on it when the statement is raised is reported rather than billed at nothing — an invoice silently missing a job is worse than a question.

Where does it show up?

On its own tab in the jobs list, and as a figure on the dashboard, because something nobody looks at is not a safety net. It is one of the few numbers in this product that is pure found money.

What it does not do

Worth knowing before you spend an afternoon on it rather than after.

It cannot find work that was never entered. A job done as a favour and written on the back of an envelope is not here, and nothing can be.

It does not invoice them automatically. Raising an invoice to a customer is always somebody's decision.

It does not know whether you meant to bill it. Some jobs genuinely are free, so the list is a prompt rather than an accusation.

How do I find jobs I never invoiced?

There is a list of finished jobs with no invoice against them, with what each is worth, on its own tab in the jobs list and as a figure on the dashboard.

Does it invoice them for me?

No. It finds them and prices them; raising the invoice is one press and always your decision.

What about jobs with no price on them?

They are reported as needing a price rather than counted as nothing, because a zero in a total is a decision and an unknown is a question.
