Invoices and payments

Take a payment

By card on their own page, or recording one that arrived another way.

Recording a bank transfer against an invoice, and seeing the balance update.
What is said in this recording

Card payments happen on the customer's own invoice page and land in the app by themselves. Anything else — a transfer, cash, a cheque — you record here, so what you are owed is always right.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open the invoice.

  2. 2

    Press to record a payment.

  3. 3

Enter the amount and how it arrived.

Part payments are fine. The invoice shows what is left and stays open until it is settled.

  4. 4

Set the date it actually arrived.

Not today's date, if it landed last week. The cash-timing figures on the reports page read this, and a wrong date quietly flatters how fast you get paid.

  5. 5

Save, and the balance updates everywhere.

Worth knowing

Card payments record themselves

When a customer pays by card you do not need to do anything — the payment is recorded, the invoice is settled and you are notified.
